Abstract

In May 2011 , East Kalimantan experienced an deflation rate of 0.18 percent, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) decreasing from 134.43 in April 2011 to 134.20 in May 2011. With this deflation rate, the calendar year inflation for 2011 (January-May 2011) is 2.83 percent and year-on-year inflation (May 2011 compared to May 2010), reached 7.81 percent.
When broken down by city, in Mei 2011, Samarinda experienced an deflation rate of 0.28 percent, Balikpapan inflation rate 0.30 percent, and Tarakan deflation rate 1.14 percent. Thus, the calendar year inflation for 2011 (January-May) for these three cities was 2.87 percent for Samarinda, 3.15 percent for Balikpapan, and 1.80 percent for Tarakan. The year-on-year inflation for May 2011 for these three cities was 7.51 percent for Samarinda, 7.60 percent for Balikpapan, and 9.43 percent for Tarakan.
