Abstract

During the period September 2012 - March 2013, the poor population in urban areas fell by 1.1 thousand people and in rural areas decreased by 7.1 thousand people.
The role of food commodities towards the Poverty Line is far greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). In March 2013, the GKM contribution to GK was 72.35 percent.
In the period September 2012 - March 2013, the Poverty Depth Index (P1) and the Poverty Severity Index (P2) declined. This indicates that the average expenditure of the poor is closer to the poverty line and that inequality in expenditure of the poor is also narrowing.
