Abstract

East Kalimantan experienced a deflation of -0.89 percent in September 2013, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) decreasing from 161.17 in August 2013 to 159.74 in September 2013. This brought the calendar year inflation rate for East Kalimantan to 9.00 percent, while the year-on-year inflation rate was 9.48 percent.
Breaking it down by city, in September 2013, Samarinda experienced a deflation of -0.67 percent, Balikpapan experienced a deflation of -1.33 percent, and Tarakan experienced a deflation of -0.37 percent. By the end of September 2013, the calendar year inflation rate was 9.94 percent for Samarinda, 7.39 percent for Balikpapan, and 10.36 percent for Tarakan. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate was 10.17 percent for Samarinda, 7.95 percent for Balikpapan, and 11.50 percent for Tarakan.
