During March 2022, there was inflation of 0.70 percent in Kalimantan Timur

Abstract

In March 2022, of the 90 municipalities monitored by the national CPI, 88 cities experienced inflation and 2 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Merauke at 1.86 percent and the lowest at 0.09 percent occurred in Kupang. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Tual at -0.27 percent and the lowest at -0.07 percent occurred in Kendari.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province (Combination of Samarinda and Balikpapan) in March 2022 there was inflation of 0.70 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 1.23 percent and a year-on-year inflation rate of 2.86 percent.
  • In March 2022 there was inflation for Samarinda of 0.40 percent and in Balikpapan there was also inflation of 1.09 percent.
  • Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in several indexes of expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.49 percent; followed by the group of equipment, tools, and routine household maintenance by 1.48 percent; personal care and other services group by 1.16 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.57 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups by 0.40 percent; transportation group by 0.34 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group with inflation of 0.17 percent; recreation, sports and culture groups by 0.09 percent; and the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.05 percent. Meanwhile, the groups that experienced a decline in index were the health group by -0.23 percent; and the education group by -0.42 percent.
