Abstract

  • The export value of Kalimantan Timur in July 2022 reached US$3.60 billion, down 2.09 percent compared to exports in June 2022. Compared to July 2021, the export value increased by 64.25%.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in July 2022 reached US$3.40 billion, up 0.64 percent compared to June 2022.
  • Cumulatively, the export value of Kalimantan Timur from January to July 2022 reached US$19.59 billion, an increase of 75.71 percent compared to the same period in 2021. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas exports reached US$18.15 million, an increase of 69.62 percent.
  • The largest increase in non-oil and gas exports from July 2022 to June 2022 occurred in mineral fuel commodities, which increased by US$145.94 million (5.37 percent), while the largest decline occurred in animal or vegetable fats and oils which fell US$119.38 million (28, 08 percent).
  • By sector, non-oil and gas exports of mining products from January to July 2022 rose 81.56 percent compared to the same period in 2021, exports of industrial products rose 30.00 percent, while exports of agricultural products fell 20.56 percent.
  • The largest non-oil and gas export in July 2022 was to India at US$696.89 million, followed by China at US$679.70 million and Japan at US$466.02 million, with the contribution of the three reaching 54.13 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union amounted to US$747.80 million and US$65.03 million, respectively.
  • According to the port of origin, Kalimantan Timur's largest exports in January–July 2022 came from the Samarinda Port with a value of US$5.25 billion (26.81 percent), followed by the Balikpapan Port at US$4.26 billion (21.77 percent) and the Tanjung Port. Coal amounted to US$3.48 billion (17.78 percent)
  • The import value of Kalimantan Timur in July 2022 reached US$746.23 million, an increase of 31.48 percent compared to the value of imports in June 2022 or an increase of 378.79 percent compared to the value of imports in July 2021.
  • Oil and gas imports in July 2022 were worth US$ 580.95 million, up 45.77 percent compared to the value of imports in June 2022 or an increase of 1,729.75 percent compared to the value of imports in July 2021.
  • Non-oil and gas imports in July 2022 were worth US$165.28 million, down 2.22 percent compared to the value of imports in June 2022. And up 33.18 percent compared to the value of imports in July 2021.
  • The largest increase in imports of non-oil and gas goods in July 2022 when compared to the value of imports in June 2022 was in the fertilizer category of US$38.09 million, where in June, Kalimantan Timur did not import these goods. On the other hand, the largest decline was in the category of goods made of iron and steel, which decreased by US$4.22 million (39.29 percent).
  • The three largest suppliers of non-oil and gas imports during January–July 2022 were South Korea US$163.56 million (17.10 percent), the United States US$133.76 million (13.99 percent), and China US$121.24 million (12 ,68 percent). Non-oil and gas imports from ASEAN amounted to US$86.49 million (9.04 percent) and the European Union amounted to US$199.16 million (20.83 percent).
  • According to the category of use of goods, the value of imports from January to July 2022 against the same period the previous year saw an increase in raw/auxiliary materials by US$1,499.53 million (132.21 percent), while capital goods decreased by US$74.42 million (17.40). percent) and consumer goods decreased by US$0.13 million (1.45 percent).
  • Kalimantan Timur's trade balance in July 2022 experienced a surplus of US$2.85 billion, mainly from the non-oil and gas sector, which had a surplus of US$3.24 billion. Meanwhile, in the oil and gas sector, the deficit was US$ 384.28 million.
