Abstract

Kalimantan Timur experienced an inflation of 1.85 percent in August, or an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 152.27 in July 2007 to 155.09 in August 2007. With this inflation rate, the inflation rate for calendar year 2007 (January-August 2007) Kalimantan Timur reached 4.59 percent and the 'year on year' inflation rate (August 2007 to August 2006) reached 5.85 percent.

Samarinda City experienced inflation of 1.80 percent and Balikpapan City experienced inflation of 1.91 percent. Thus for these two cities, the inflation rate for calendar year 2007 (January-August) has reached 5.09 and 4.02 percent, respectively. While the year on year inflation rate (August 2006-August 2007) reached 7.39 and 4.10 percent, respectively.
