Abstract

Kalimantan Timur in May 2008 experienced inflation of 1.33 percent, or there was an Increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 167.85 in April 2008 to 170.08 in May 2008. With this inflation rate, the inflation rate for the calendar year 2008 January-May 2008) Kalimantan Timur has reached 5.91 percent and the 'year on year' inflation rate has reached 12, 54 percent.

Samarinda City experienced inflation of 2.08 percent and Balikpapan City experienced inflation of 0.45 percent. Therefore, for these two cities, the inflation rate inflation rate in calendar year 2008 (January-May 2008) has reached 6.72 and 4.97 percent and year on year inflation rate (May 2008-May 2007) respectively reached 13.53 and 11.38 percent.
