Abstract

In February 2010, East Kalimantan experienced an inflation rate of 0.94 percent, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising from 122.74 in January 2010 to 123.89 in February 2010. With this inflation rate, the calendar year inflation for 2010 (January-February 2010) in East Kalimantan reached 1.84 percent, and the year-on-year inflation (February 2010 compared to February 2009) reached 5.72 percent.
When broken down by city, Samarinda experienced an inflation rate of 0.76 percent, Balikpapan 0.83 percent, and Tarakan 1.82 percent in February. Thus, the calendar year inflation for 2010 (January-February) reached 1.37 percent for Samarinda, 1.91 percent for Balikpapan, and 3.27 percent for Tarakan. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation in February 2010 for these cities were 4.25 percent for Samarinda, 5.93 percent for Balikpapan, and 10.22 percent for Tarakan.
