Abstract

In March 2010, East Kalimantan experienced an inflation rate of 0.52 percent, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising from 123.89 in February 2010 to 123.89 in March 2010. With this inflation rate, the calendar year inflation for 2010 (January-March 2010) in East Kalimantan reached 2.37 percent, and the year-on-year inflation (March 2010 compared to March 2009) reached 5.95 percent.
When broken down by city, Samarinda experienced an inflation rate of 0.76 percent, Balikpapan 0.62 percent, and Tarakan experienced deflation 1.82 percent in March. Thus, the calendar year inflation for 2010 (January-March) reached 2.07 percent for Samarinda, 2.55 percent for Balikpapan, and 2.89 percent for Tarakan. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation in March 2010 for these cities were 4.65 percent for Samarinda, 6.21 percent for Balikpapan, and 9.73 percent for Tarakan.
