Abstract

  • 82 cities monitoring national CPI, in October 2018, as many as 66 cities experienced inflation and 16 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Palu City by 2.27 percent and the lowest occurred in Kota Cilegon by 0.01 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Bengkulu City at -0.74 percent and the lowest in Tangerang City at -0.01 percent.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province (Combined Samarinda City and Balikpapan City) in October 2018 there was a deflation of -0.16 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 2.75 percent and a year-on-year inflation rate of 3.64 percent.
  • In October 2018 there was an inflation of 0.24 percent in Samarinda City and a deflation of -0.68 percent in Balikpapan City.
  • Deflation in Kalimantan Timur was influenced by a decline in the price index in the foodstuffs and transportation and communication groups by -0.02 percent and -2.03 percent respectively. While the other 5 groups experienced an increase in index, namely processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.66 percent, clothing group by 0.39 percent, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.19 percent, health group by 0.15 percent and the education, recreation and sports group by 0.06 percent.
