Abstract

  • Of 82 cities monitoring national CPI, in February 2019, as many as 13 cities experienced inflation and 69 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tual Municipality at 2.98 percent and the lowest occurred in Kendari Municipality at 0.03 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Merauke Municipality at -2.11 percent and the lowest in Serang Municipality, which was -0.02 percent.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province (Combined Samarinda Municipality and Balikpapan Municipality) Deflation in February 2019 amounted to -0.01 percent with calendar year inflation rate of 0.54 percent and year-on-year inflation rate of 3.23 percent.
  • In February 2019 there was a deflation of -0.18 percent in Samarinda Municipality and Inflation of 0.20 percent in Balikpapan Municipality.
  • Deflation in Kalimantan Timur was influenced by a decline in the price index in the foodstuffs group by -0.93 percent. The other six groups experienced an increase in index, namely the transportation and communication group experienced inflation of 0.54 percent followed by the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group by 0.22 percent, the clothing group by 0.19 percent then the education, recreation and sports group by 0.11 percent, the health group by 0.05 percent and the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group by 0.02 percent.
