Abstract

Of the 82 cities monitored in national CPI, in April 2019 there are as many as 77 cities experienced inflation and 5 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Medan Municipality at 1.30 percent and the lowest occurred in the Pare-Pare Municipality at 0.03 percent.
Kalimantan Timur Province (Combined Samarinda Municipality and Balikpapan Municipality) experienced inflation by 0.15 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 0.50 percent and year-on-year inflation rate of 2.84 percent.
In April 2019 there was an inflation of 0.07 percent in Samarinda Municipality and inflation of 0.25 percent in Balikpapan Municipality.
Inflation in Kalimantan Timur was influenced by the rise in the price index in the transportation and communication group by 0.46 percent, followed by the clothing group at 0.30 percent, the health group at 0.26 percent, education, recreation and sports group by 0.23 percent, processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group by 0.14 percent, and foodstuffs group at 0.07 percent. Meanwhile, water, electricity, gas and fuel group experienced deflation at -0.09 percent.
