Abstract

  • In February 2020 out of 90 national CPI monitoring cities, 73 cities experienced inflation and 17 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sintang Municipality by 1.21 percent and the lowest occurred in Pare-Pare Municipality by 0.02 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan Municipality by -1.20 percent and the lowest in Padang Sidempuan Municipality by -0.01 percent.

  • Kalimantan Timur Province (Samarinda Municipality and Balikpapan Municipality) in February 2020 experienced inflation of 0.40 percent with calendar year inflation rate of 0.72 percent and year-on-year inflation rate of 2.08 percent.

  • In February 2020 there was an inflation of 0.37 percent in Samarinda Municipality and inflation of 0.44 percent in the Balikpapan Municipality.

  • Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in most of the expenditure group index, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.13 percent; clothing and footwear group of 0.02 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuels by 0.28 percent; household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance by 0.43 percent; health group of 0.04 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 0.30 percent; education group by 0.05 percent; food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.31 percent; and the personal care and other services group of 0.48 percent. While those that experienced a decrease in index were the transportation group by -0.37 percent; and information, communication and finance group by -0.07 percent.
