April 2023 exports reached US$2.41 billion, imports reached US$472.12 million

Abstract

  • The export value of Kalimantan Timur Province in April 2023 was recorded at US$2.41 billion, or decreased by 15.59 percent compared to the export value in March 2023. When compared to April 2022, the export value fell by 27.75%.
  • April 2023 non-oil and gas exports were recorded at US$2.21 billion, a decrease of 15.58 percent compared to March 2023.
  • Cumulatively, the oil and gas export value of Kalimantan Timur Province during January-April 2023 reached US$879.95 million, an increase of 15.80 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Meanwhile, the value of non-oil and gas exports reached US$9.48 billion.
  • The largest decrease in the value of non-oil and gas exports in April 2023 compared to March 2023 occurred in the mineral fuel goods category, which decreased by US$317.50 million (14.16 percent), while the largest increase in value occurred in the fertilizer goods category, which amounted to US$20.48 million (60 percent). .80 percent).
  • By sector, during the January-April 2023 period, Kalimantan Timur Province's non-oil and gas exports increased by 8.87 percent compared to the same period in 2022. The increase was contributed by an increase in exports of mining products by 14.34 percent, and exports of agricultural products by 2,363.45 percent.
  • The destination country with the largest non-oil and gas export value in April 2023 was to China with a value of US$749.22 million, followed by India with US$409.57 million and Taiwan with US$149.00 million, with the contribution of the three of them reaching 59.05 percent. Meanwhile exports to ASEAN and the European Union amounted to US$451.35 million and US$15.54 million respectively.
  • According to the port of origin, Kalimantan Timur Province's largest exports in April 2023 came from the Port of Samarinda with a value of US$765.24 million, followed by the Port of Balikpapan with US$458.80 million, and the Port of Tanjung Bara with US$422.63 million.
  • The import value of Kalimantan Timur Province in April 2023 was recorded at US$472.18 million, an increase of 4.65 percent compared to the import value in March 2023. When compared to the April 2022 import value, it experienced an increase of 13.58 percent.
  • The April 2023 oil and gas import value was US$364.80 million, an increase of 11.97 percent compared to the March 2023 import value, whereas when compared to the April 2022 import value it experienced an increase of 14.65 percent.
  • The April 2023 non-oil and gas import value was US$107.38 million, or decreased by 14.39 percent compared to the March 2023 import value, whereas when compared to the April 2022 import value it experienced an increase of 10.09 percent.
  • In April 2023, the largest percentage decrease in imports of non-oil and gas goods was in the category of machine and electrical equipment, which experienced a decrease of 71.32 percent. On the other hand, the highest percentage increase in imports of non-oil and gas goods occurred in the category of mineral fuel goods which rose 1,094.44 percent.
  • The three largest suppliers of non-oil and gas imported goods during January–April 2023 were China at US$111.52 (22.09 percent), the United States at US$57.42 million (11.37 percent), and South Korea at US$49.60 million. (9.82 percent). Non-oil and gas imports from ASEAN amounted to US$87.29 million (17.29 percent) and the European Union amounted to US$90.18 million (17.86 percent).
  • According to the category of goods used, the value of imports from January to April 2023 compared to the same period in the previous year, there was an increase in the value of imports of raw/auxiliary materials by 20.11 percent, consumption goods increased by 8.34 percent, but capital goods decreased by 0. 63 percent.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province's trade balance in April 2023 experienced a surplus of US$1.93 billion. The non-oil and gas sector had a surplus of US$2.11 billion, while the oil and gas sector had a deficit of US$173.21 million.
