Economics of Kalimantan Timur Province growth at 6.22 percent in 2023

Abstract

The economy of Kalimantan Timur Province in 2023 based on the size of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP) at current prices reached IDR 843.57 trillion, GRDP at constant prices in 2010 reached IDR 537.63 trillion, and GRDP per capita reached IDR 215.76 million.

Kalimantan Timur Province's economy in 2023 will grow by 6.22 percent, higher than the achievements in 2022 which grew by 4.48 percent. GRDP by Industry, the highest growth occurred in the Electricity and Gas Industry of 16.05 percent. Meanwhile, GRDP by Expenditure, the highest growth occurred in the Government Consumption Expenditure Component of 36.40 percent.

Kalimantan Timur Province's economy in Quarter IV-2023 against Quarter IV-2022 experienced growth of 5.76 percent (y-on-y). GRDP by Industry, the Construction Industry experienced the highest growth of 12.63 percent. GRDP by Expenditure, the Government Consumption Expenditure Component experienced the highest growth of 38.15 percent.

Kalimantan Timur Province's economy in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter grew by 2.30 percent (q-to-q). GRDP by Industry, the Public Administration and Defence; Compulsory Social Security Industry experienced the highest growth of 10.03 percent. Meanwhile, GRDP by Expenditure, the Government Consumption Expenditure Component experienced the highest growth of 65.97 percent.

Economic growth in 2023 will occur in all provinces on the island of Borneo. Kalimantan Timur Province contributed the highest contribution to the preparation of regional Kalimantan added value of 48.38 percent.
