Abstract

Kalimantan Timur in July 2009 experienced inflation of 0.50 percent, or an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 118.13 in June 2009 to 118.72 in July 2009. With this inflation rate, the inflation rate for the calendar year 2009 (Jaruari-July 2009) Kalimantan Timur has reached 1.80 percent and the 'year on year' inflation rate (July 2009 against July 2008) reached 3.85 percent.
Balikpapan and Tarakan in July experienced inflation of 1.17 and 0.99 percent respectively, while Samarinda experienced deflation of 0.18 percent. For these three cities, inflation rates for calendar year 2009 (January-July) have each reached 1.73; 1.50 and 2.88 percent. While the inflation rate year on year (July 2008-July 2009) each reached 3.40; 3.25; and 7.18 percent.
