Abstract

82 cities monitoring national CPI, in July 2018, 30 cities experienced inflation and 52 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tarakan City by 0.62 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Medan City and Padangsidimpuan by 0.01 percent respectively. Whereas the highest deflation occurred in Bau-bau city at -2.49 percent and the lowest in Jember City at -0.01 percent.
Kalimantan Timur Province (Samarinda City Association and Balikpapan City) in August 2018 there was an inflation of 0.15 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 3.19 percent and an annual inflation rate of 3.87 percent.
In August 2018 there was 0.28 percent inflation in Kota Samarinda and a deflation of -0.02 percent in Balikpapan City.
Inflation in Kalimantan Timur was influenced by an increase in the price index in the transportation and communication group by 1.07 percent, followed by clothing by 0.66 percent, education, recreation and sports by 0.45 percent, processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.18 percent, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.11 percent, health groups by 0.03 percent. Meanwhile for foodstuffs group experienced a deflation of -0.79 percent.
