During February 2021, there was inflation of 0.18 percent in Kalimantan Timur

Abstract

  • In February 2021, out of 90 cities on national CPI monitoring, 56 cities experienced inflation and 34 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Mamuju at 1.12 percent and the lowest occurred in Tasikmalaya and Sumenep with 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Gunungsitoli at -1.55 percent and the lowest at -0.01 percent occurred in Malang and Tarakan.
  • In the province of Kalimantan Timur (Samarinda and Balikpapan combined) in February 2021 there was an inflation of 0.18 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 0.33 percent and a year-on-year inflation rate of 0.39 percent.
  • In February 2021, inflation for Samarinda Municipality was 0.11 percent and in Balikpapan Municipality was 0.28 percent.
  • Inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by increases in several indices for the expenditure group, namely: the transportation group by 0.49 percent; followed by the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.40 percent; equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group by 0.26 percent; the health group by 0.19 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 0.10 percent; the personal care and other services group of 0.07 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.06 percent; and the housing, water, household fuel electricity group of 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the groups that experienced a decrease in index were the recreation, sports and culture group by -0.67 percent; and the information, communication and financial services group of -0.14 percent. For the education group in February 2021 there was no change in index compared to the previous month.
