The
value of exports from Kalimantan Timur Province in November 2023
amounted to US$2,186.71 million, an increase of 5.27 percent compared to
the export value in October 2023. The exports of oil and gas (migas) in
November 2023 reached US$246.34 million, an increase of 8.96 percent
compared to October 2023. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas (nonmigas) exports
totaled US$1,940.38 million, showing an increase of 4.82 percent.
Cumulatively,
the export value of Kalimantan Timur Province from January to November
2023 amounted to US$24,680.73 million, representing a decrease of 25.20
percent compared to the same period in 2022.By
commodity group, the largest increase in nonmigas exports in November
2023 compared to October 2023 occurred in the category of mineral fuel,
which rose by US$72.86 million (4.89 percent). On the other hand, the
largest decrease in value occurred in the category of various chemical
products, amounting to US$7.51 million (-67.65 percent).During
the period from January to November 2023, China was the main export
destination, accounting for the largest share with an export value of
US$7,095.78 million (31.88 percent), followed by India with a value of
US$3,316.79 million (14.90 percent), the Philippines with US$2,106.15
million (9.46 percent), and Japan with US$2,056.36 million (9.24
percent).In
terms of sectors, nonmigas exports in Kalimantan Timur Province
decreased by 26.83 percent during January-November 2023 compared to the
same period in 2022. The decline in nonmigas exports was attributed to a
decrease of 27.64 percent in mining exports and 23.00 percent in
industrial exports.The
three ports contributing the most to the total export value of
Kalimantan Timur Province in November 2023 were Samarinda Port
(US$564.49 million), Balikpapan Port (US$531.10 million), and Tanjung
Bara Port (US$415.30 million).
The
import value of Kalimantan Timur Province in November 2023 amounted to
US$504.29 million, a decrease of 26.63 percent compared to the import
value in October 2023. The import value of migas in November 2023 was
US$377.26 million, a decrease of 34.45 percent compared to October 2023.
Meanwhile, the nonmigas import value was recorded at US$127.03 million,
an increase of 13.69 percent.Cumulatively,
the import value of Kalimantan Timur Province from January to November
2023 amounted to US$5,150.75 million, representing an increase of 6.70
percent compared to the same period in 2022.In
November 2023, the largest percentage increase in nonmigas goods
imports was in the fertilizer category, which experienced an increase of
680.85 percent. On the other hand, the largest percentage decrease in
nonmigas goods imports occurred in the category of vehicles and parts,
amounting to 27.89 percent.In
terms of their contribution to the total nonmigas imports from January
to November 2023, the largest contributions by the country of origin
were dominated by China with US$285.46 million, accounting for 20.65
percent, followed by the United States with US$181.40 million,
representing 13.12 percent, and South Korea with US$115.98 million,
representing 8.39 percent.By
the category of use, during January-November 2023, the import values
for consumer goods and raw materials/auxiliaries increased by 60.02
percent and 8.62 percent, respectively. On the other hand, capital goods
decreased by 9.87 percent.The
trade balance of Kalimantan Timur Province in November 2023 experienced
a surplus of US$1,682.42 million. The nonmigas sector recorded a
surplus of US$1,813.35 million, while the migas sector recorded a
deficit of US$130.93 million.
