Abstract

  • The economy of  Kalimantan Timur based on the amount of GRDP at current prices in Quarter II / 2014 reached Rp 110.0 trillion (with oil and gas) or Rp 74.8 trillion (without oil and gas). Whereas the GRDP at constant 2000 prices reached Rp. 31.0 trillion (with oil and gas) or Rp. 22.9 trillion (without oil and gas).
  • The economy of Kalimantan Timur in Quarter II / 2014 compared to Quarter I / 2014 (q-to-q) experienced a contraction of negative 0.19 percent, in the previous quarter it grew by 0.97 percent. While the growth of Quarter II / 2014 compared to the same quarter of the previous year (y-on-y) was positive 1.89 percent, higher than the growth of Quarter II / 2013 which was 1.45 percent.
  • Based on a review of the performance of the GRDP according to the field of business (q-to-q) in Quarter II / 2014, the sector that affected the rate of economic growth in Kalimantan Timur experienced contraction namely the Mining and Quarrying sector which declined by negative 0.46 percent as a result of the decline in the Oil and Gas Mining subsector (-2.81 percent), then the Manufacturing Industry sector decreased by negative 0.48 percent which was affected by the decline in the performance of the Oil and Gas Industry by 1.24 percent and the Agriculture sector also fell by negative 4.14 percent as a reflection of the end of the rice commodity harvest in several districts / cities in the previous quarter. Conversely, the services sector experienced high growth from other sectors, which grew by a positive 2.84 percent.
