The
export value of Kalimantan Timur Province in December 2023 was recorded
at US$2,159.99 million, a decrease of 1.22 percent compared to the
export value in November 2023. The export of oil and gas (migas) in
December 2023 was recorded at US$192.56 million, a decrease of 21.83
percent compared to November 2023. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas (nonmigas)
exports were recorded at US$1,967.44 million, an increase of 1.39
percent.
Cumulatively,
the export value of Kalimantan Timur Province during January-December
2023 was recorded at US$26,840.72 million, a decrease of 25.56 percent
compared to the same period in 2022.Based
on commodity groups, the largest increase in nonmigas exports in
December 2023 compared to November 2023 occurred in the mineral fuel
group, which increased by US$57.49 million (3.68 percent). Conversely,
the largest decrease occurred in the group of animal/vegetable fats and
oils, amounting to US$65.16 million (-24.99 percent).During
the period of January-December 2023, China was the main export
destination, accounting for the largest share with an export value of
US$7,814.54 million (32.25 percent), followed by India with a value of
US$3,647.00 million (15.05 percent), the Philippines with US$2,257.46
million (9.32 percent), and Japan with US$2,184.91 million (9.02
percent).In
terms of sectors, nonmigas exports of Kalimantan Timur Province
decreased by 26.71 percent during January-December 2023 compared to the
same period in 2022. The decline in nonmigas exports was contributed by a
27.79 percent decrease in mining exports and a 21.43 percent decrease
in industrial exports.The
three ports that made the largest contributions to the total export
value of Kalimantan Timur Province in December 2023 were Samarinda Port
(US$616.88 million), Balikpapan Port (US$427.05 million), and Tanjung
Bara Port (US$406.53 million).The
import value of Kalimantan Timur Province in December 2023 was recorded
at US$420.06 million, a decrease of 16.70 percent compared to the
import value in November 2023. The import of oil and gas in December
2023 was recorded at US$310.66 million, a decrease of 17.65 percent,
while non-oil and gas imports were recorded at US$109.40 million, a
decrease of 13.88 percent.Cumulatively,
the import value of Kalimantan Timur Province during January-December
2023 was recorded at US$5,570.81 million, an increase of 2.82 percent
compared to the same period in 2022.In
December 2023, the highest percentage increase in nonmigas import goods
was in the group of various chemical products, experiencing an increase
of 498.69 percent. Conversely, the largest percentage decrease in
nonmigas import goods occurred in the group of organic chemical
products, decreasing by 60.47 percent.Considering
their contributions to total nonmigas imports during January-December
2023, China was the largest contributor with US$320.51 million,
accounting for 21.48 percent, followed by the United States with
US$204.03 million, accounting for 13.68 percent, and South Korea with
US$120.63 million, accounting for 8.09 percent.According
to the commodity use groups, during January-December 2023, the import
value of consumer goods and raw materials/auxiliaries increased by 56.59
percent and 4.58 percent, respectively. On the other hand, capital
goods decreased by 12.51 percent.The
trade balance of Kalimantan Timur Province in December 2023 experienced
a surplus of US$1,739.93 million. The nonmigas sector recorded a
surplus of US$1,858.04 million, while the migas sector recorded a
deficit of US$118.11 million.
