Abstract

The number of poor people (population below the Poverty Line) in East Kalimantan in September 2014 was 252.68 thousand (6.31 percent). In March 2014 the poor numbered 253.60 thousand (6.42 percent), meaning the number of poor people decreased 0.92 thousand people (0.11 percent).
During the period of March 2014 - September 2014, the poor in urban areas rose by 0.59 thousand people and in rural areas fell by 1.51 thousand people.
In September 2014, the number of poor people living in rural areas was 154.20 thousand people (10.06 percent), more than those living in urban areas of 98.48 thousand people (3.98 percent).
During March 2014 - September 2014, the Poverty Line (GK) rose by 2.94 percent, from Rp. 431,560, - per capita per month in March 2014 to Rp. 444,248 per capita per month in September 2014. In the same period the National GK amounted to Rp. 302,735, - per capita per month (March 2014) and rose to Rp. 312.328, - per capita per month (September 2014) or up 3.17 percent.
In the period March 2014 - September 2014, the Poverty Depth Index (P1) and Poverty Severity Index (P2) decreased. The Poverty Depth Index fell from 1.08 in March 2014 to 0.80 in September 2014. Similarly, the Poverty Severity Index decreased from 0.28 to 0.18 in the same period.
