POVERTY LEVEL IN KALIMANTAN TIMUR MARCH 2012

Abstract

The number of poor people (population below the poverty line) in Kalimantan Timur in March 2012 was 253.34 thousand (6.68 percent). Compared to the poor population in March 2011 which amounted to 247.90 thousand (6.77 percent), it means that the number of poor people rose by 5.4 thousand people in absolute terms, but the percentage decreased by 0.09 percent.

During the period March 2011 - March 2012, the poor population in urban areas rose by 3.06 thousand people and in rural areas rose by 2.36 thousand people.

In March 2012, the number of poor people living in rural areas was 11.01 percent, greater than those living in urban areas (4.05 percent).
